What I’ve Been Up To

by Kate P. on 10/03/2011

Todd & I had a lot of changes this summer.

He started a new job. It was a HUGE life changing job for our family. It was/is Todd’s dream job & has the potential to build his career so that he always is able to work in his dream field. He loves it, he’s so much happier now, I love it that he loves it, oh & it doesn’t hurt that I’ve gotten a few date nights out of it right?

With the new job change, came a new commute as well. He drives 45 minutes each way, every.single.day. That turned our world upside down. It got us talking about should we move, we love our neighborhood, we’ve only lived in our house 2 1/2 years, we love this house, but the commute is a killer, etc etc etc.

THEN…right after the new job, came another HUGE & HAPPY blessing…

Baby #2 due March 22! 16 weeks along

We couldn’t be more thrilled!

But, I won’t lie… I’ve been a hot, neurotic, vomiting, sick, emotional mess with this kiddo.

Poor Todd. He politely & as sweetly as could be done, told me he hates pregnancy. And I absolutely, 100% agreed. Me & pregnancy? We do NOT get along. I’d rather pull all nighters, be vomited on, change diapers, deal with diaper rash, & any other hard part of parenting than do pregnancy. But, the reward at the end is oh so sweet. So, I’ll keep on keeping on.

I’ve also been cleaning like crazy, like seriously, I’m a crazy person. Todd came home to me on my hands & knees scrubbing the kitchen floor with a brush because I wanted the grout lines cleaned. Then one weekend it was the laundry room. The other day, I called Todd in a panic because my closet was a wreck. He came home from work & cleaned the entire closet, then we did the bedroom, I’ve cleaned out from underneath all the beds. Trust me, it’s bad. Next weekend…we’re hitting the garage. Hopefully, getting the carpets professionally cleaned will happen in the next couple of weeks. This baby is not coming home to messy house!

Taking the pregnancy test also jolted me into some major prioritizing. I felt that it was time for me to wrap up the design business, take a break from blogging, & spend time with Lboy & Todd while we have 40 weeks together before everything changes (and try to suffer through the first trimester with some dignity until I felt better. :) )

I’m glad that I have finally been able to share it with you all. I can’t wait to keep you updated on all the crazy fun!

Yeah, I was sick with Lboy the entire time. I was hoping that it would be better this time around, but ugh…it hasn’t. Good news is, it is getting better the last couple of weeks, so my fingers are crossed!

Congrats Kate! Besides all the great job stuff for your hubs, the news of a new little one is AMAZING! I think this is like the 100th blog I’ve read in the last week that has announced a pregnancy…must be a mom blogger baby boom ;) I support you 100% in the changes you’ve made, you are right, it’s now that you need to slow down & soak it all in, before things go really crazy when baby #2 is added to the mix! Enjoy the months to come as your family of three still!

We will find out in the beginning of Nov. That was the earliest appointment we could get, I don’t want to be that patient, but I guess I’m going to have to! Trust me, I won’t hold onto that secret at all. :)

Reply

Kate P. October 3, 2011 at 10:25 pm

Well, the first pregnancy I was sick for 35 of 39 weeks…it is probably the reason why this baby is coming 3 years after the first one. lol It took me a long time to forget how terrible it was! :)

But, so far this week I’ve felt pretty good. If I let myself get too fatigued, then I get super sick. So I’m usually in bed as early as I can be every night!

Can’t wait to start reading your posts again & catching up! I’m glad to be back! And thank you for the congrats!

They offered me Zofran, I told them I was going to try to see how it went in the 2nd trimester. So far, I’m doing better than I was a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you very much for the congrats!

OMG CONGRATULATIONS, Kate!!!! I’m so very happy for you and your little family! I can’t wait to have a second of my own, but I’ll have to wait until we’re in a bigger home. (*sigh*)

I feel you on not liking pregnancy. I ended up having to stay in the hospital on bedrest for 8, yeah EIGHT weeks at the end of my preganacy. It was unpleasant to say the least, so I definitely get why you don’t like pregnancy. I don’t either. UGH!

When we bought the house we thought that our square footage would be great for having more kids & now that the time is here it’s starting to feel very small! lol I guess that’s a good problem to have though!

Oh that’s fantastic! I have been wondering about you. I kept stopping by looking for an update. Morning sickness is aweful. I was sick with all 4 of my boys but the first two were the worst. I could barely eat anything for 14 weeks. The only good thing is that it prevented me from gaining too much weight! :) Oh and morning sickness is a good sign your pregnancy is going well.
I couldnt be happier for you and your husband. Looking forward to seeing you around again!

I took zofran with my first 2 and it helped. I was at least able to function better and eat a little something.

I went on a cleaning frenzy last year during my 2nd trimester. (My 1st trimester I was a sleepy, nauseous wreck!) But I kicked it into high gear and my poor husband was left alone many-a-night while I tore apart the house, room by room! Congratulations!! You’re a trooper!! :)

I was wondering if that’s what was up… only because everyone I know seems to have a bun in the oven! Except me… the baby factory is closed at my house! Congratulations on such GREAT news!
Congrats on the new great job for Todd. I know that having a job that he actually LIKES makes a world of difference for my husband. It sounds like it’s a good thing for your guy too!
And HOORAY for helpful husbands who take on all the crazy (totally LOGICAL) projects that we feel absolutely MUST get done while we’re PG! Thank you God for that! And good for you for taking whatever time you need to hang out with the precious little people you’ve already been given before life has more changes. That stuff totally matters.
I hope that the nausea is more under control. I had it bad with all 4 of my pregnancies… like worst my docs had ever seen. I hope that your experience is nothing like that… and that you ARE really able to focus on all the good stuff… like The End part where you actually have a new family member! ;)
Congrats on such wonderful news! I’m excited for your family!
