This year’s trend that is driving me nuts is what I like to call the Mullet Dress. It’s the dress that can’t decide if it wants to be long or if it wants to be short. I swear the person who started the trend was a woman who couldn’t make up her mind if they wanted to rock the mini skirt or the formal dress so she took scissors to her long skirt, hacked it up in the front, & left it long out back. And for some reason, the world has followed suit and now EVERYONE is doing it.
Don’t be fooled by the mullet people, because someday you will look back and wonder, “What was I thinking?!!” Just like he does.
The dress may look pretty, it may be in a pretty color, but ladies….please….don’t listen to the fashion trend. Make up your mind LONG or SHORT, SHORT or LONG. Don’t do the in between. You think this is pretty now….
Oh heck, who am I kidding?! I would wear every.single.one of those dresses above.
A few years ago when I was studying abroad in Mexico, a friend & I were shopping (Todd was there too) and I pointed to a purse & I said, “That’s beyond hideous. But it’s soooo fashionable I love it.” I fell for it, just like I will the mullet dress.
So…when you see me in a mullet dress, you will know that I finally caved to the trend. And don’t remind me of this post.
M’kay?
Would you wear the mullet dress? Have any fashion disasters that used to be popular in your closet?

Ugh, I hate those things, too! And you know what I’m seeing now? Mullet SHIRTS! Just…….no, no, no, no, NO! Or is it just me who doesn’t want to show off even more of the worst part of my entire body by wearing a shirt that is shorter in the front than it is in the back?
Oh, Billy Ray……I remember when he first got really popular and all the girls were swooning over him. I didn’t get it. With that bushy mullet, he always looked like a rabid squirrel to me!
Just surfed over from Mama Kat’s!

Oh yes, the mullet shirt is everywhere. I prefer the dress to the shirt that’s for sure….I remember when people loved Billy & the mullet. I personally do not understand. I also don’t understand why someone thought it was a good idea to wear a mullet in the first place!

Haha! That’s awesome in such a terrible way. I never have understood some of these crazy fashions. I’ll keep my dresses long and none of this Mullet Dress crap! Visiting from Mama Kat’s!

Definitely wouldn’t wear the mullet dress… mostly because I am way tall. The short part is always too short (like I’m heading to a club kind of short) and the back isn’t all long and dramatic. It mostly looks like a dog bit off the front of my knee-length dress.

bahahahaha!
Back when this was in style, TEN years ago, I tried one on and HATED it. I looked awful. I have the tall thing going on too and it just looked weird.
So maybe I just have fashion envy?!

I don’t know. Maybe if I looked awesome in it. What I really want is a photo of someone in a complete mullet (top, skirt, hair!)

You know sometimes its just best to join a trend then try to ignore them.
(For what it’s worth… I like all those dresses too)
Kate P. says
Glad I’m not alone, granted I’ll probably never buy one because once I tried them on I’d be so frustrated that I didn’t look as good in one as the girls in the pictures…so maybe I just have fashion envy?! 😉
Sue says
Can’t stand ’em.
Won’t wear ’em.
{But still like you even if you cave}
Kate P. says
Oh thank you! Think they have a support group for people who cave & then later regret it?!
Kat says
Mullet dress?? HAhaha! It totally is!! BUT…I have one. You’re officially not invited to wherever it is I’m going when I decide to wear it. I despise the mullet shirts though…I need all the length in the front that I can get.
Kate P. says
bahaha!
Okay, when I cave, and I will cave on this, I want an invite to go out & we can rock the mullet dresses together!
And I’m with ya on the mullet shirts, I need my layers so that my waist has the illusion that it looks like it did when I was 22! 😉
Kelly says
So would that make it an Achy-Breaky Dress? I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.

The dress doesn’t bother me as much as the hideous mullet shirt. Blech! Although I have to admit, I only don’t hate half of those dresses.
