Updates at Mommy Monologues

05/15/2010 by Kate P. 10 Comments

Update on Lboy’s Birthday:
We ordered the invitations that we sent out from Jumping Jax Designs. Becca was/is amazing! Working with her was great–I emailed her, heard back from her promptly, & she had an invitation sample made up for me in less than a day! I “approved” & was sent my final proof! Working with her was awesome! (I found her at one of my favorite blogger’s sites: Laura at Cowboy Boots & Baby Booties! Thank you Laura!)

The best thing about all of this was her option of being able to order the invitation as a digital file. Todd & I chose to email the invitation to everyone to save on cost (& for mother earth 🙂 but if we had wanted to print the invite on 5×7 card stock we could have done that. Or we could have ordered printed invitations, that was also an option.

Below are some samples of her work (one is an invitation, the other a blog header!) The invitation is not the Dr. Seuss invite we ordered (because that has our actual address on there–don’t figure that would fit in with that whole Online Security thing I wrote about this week.) But she has super cute invitation designs, blog designs, & logo designs. Go check her out & spread the love!

Update on Online Security.

I’m hoping to do a follow up post next week with all of the emailed comments I received. There were several of you who inquired as to what all people emailed me, so I’ll be getting back to that probably mid-week sometime! For those of you who asked me what all I learned that day, I’ll be sure to head over to your blogs and let you know it’s up!

Update on Lboy’s Sleeping Habits.

We have been sleep training for the last 5 nights–it has been…. Not as bad as I thought it would! Lboy is handling it perfectly. He only cries for about 15 minutes before falling asleep. And he’s sleeping for 12 straight hours, he wakes up sometimes but puts himself back to sleep within seconds. And last night he slept for 13 hours (I think he’s coming down with a cold, so he slept a little longer.) To me, this is a huge sign that he was ready to move into his own room. (Now if I can just get him eating food beyond Gerber Cheetos & Biter Biscuits that would be awesome!)

Me on the other hand? I’m not handling it so well. lol The crying tears me up inside & when he knows it’s time for bed he starts clutching my neck & pointing to go into a different room away from his crib. But he’s falling asleep so fast & then sleeping so long, that it seems like this has to be the best thing for him right now.

He’s such a Big Boy!

I hope y’all have a great weekend!

Monday’s post is a part of the Momalom’s Five for Ten. The topic for this day is Lust…. Bow chicka wow wow!

Sounds like LBoy is ready for his own room, as you said. Oh, and I wish I could sleep for 13 hours straight.

Those have to be THE CUTEST invites I have ever seen! I'm going to have to save that and check it out for Davis' invites…in 3 short months. Tear!
And I want to sleep 13 hours straight! Ahhhh!! I actually just bought a baby cookbook for Davis and it's awesome! It's all kinds of stuff you can make them and it's broken up in stages. I know your son is older, so you probably can feed him almost anything at this point. But they even have chicken and couscous for 9 month olds. I think I'll start eating his food! 🙂
I'm crossing my fingers when I hit send this time, it will go through! Haha

Bless your heart. I know this has to be so hard. I'm afraid I would cave in. Be strong Mamma! Lboy will adjust soon.

Those invitations are amazing! I am going to check out her website. Hang in there Mom. You are doing a terrific job. That consistency is going to pay off big dividends for you and your son.
