Cliff Jumping, Adventure, & Snarkiness

I have ZERO ideas to write about! And that frankly makes me snarky. But I’ll deal with it. You will notice that there was no blog post up for yesterday…I had a blank brain yesterday too…that makes me double snarky.

So here I sit, staring at my computer screen, with this stupid, scrunched up look on my face (Todd even asked me if I was okay–that’s how bad the look is), & I’m just typing random letters like this “ksdfahskdnfud.” Do you think this would make a good post? Just a bunch of crazy letters thrown together? No? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. So now I’m triple make that quadruple snarky about not having anything to write about.

I’ve been wanting to write a post about one of my favorite quotes:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
~Mark Twain
This quote can take the snarkiest person and fill them with hope & let them dare to dream about something else out there beyond their normal, everyday stuff. I love this quote–it’s like being inflated with air only instead of air I’m inflated with happiness & feel like I can conquer anything, I can be anything, & I can do anything. It’s such a happy quote! It’s a quote that wakes up the adventurer in me & reminds me that there is this part of me that CAN’T WAIT to see the world & is determined to do it.

But it also reminds me of my past dreams & all the dreams that have come true–all because I was brave enough to sail away from the safe harbor. So here’s another quote about the adventure I’m on right now:

Getting married wasn’t about settling down or having stability; it was about joining forces for an adventure neither of us could have alone. It was like standing at the edge of a cliff with rushing water beneath us. We were happy, terrified — and against all expectations, we jumped. But we were holding hands, and even if we were falling fast, we were together. Are together.
~Elissa Schappell

Marriage & Motherhood are my two greatest adventures–I wouldn’t trade either of my boys to climb the Egyptian pyramids or hike through Mayan ruins (I just plan on dragging them both along with me!)

These two quotes have helped me go from snarky to happy & then to grateful for all that I have–I honestly have nothing to be snarky about–except that now Todd is making me go run–I don’t wanna! ::cue the whiny voice::

Week #5 Word: Snarky
—————————————————————————————-

**Update** A couple of nights ago I told you about the Mama Bird in her nest with her cute little blue eggs–yeah we had a TERRIBLE storm the other night & it blew her nest & eggs out of the tree! I went out there to go “visit” her today (from a distance) & that’s where I discovered the tragedy. ::sobbing:: I’m so sad….

Fantastic quotes (I particularly like the one about marriage because that's how I feel too). I'm so upset about the mama bird. Nature is cruel!

It's awesome when you go from snarky to happy. Well done!! Love the quotes and really try to live my life by the "do-what-makes-you-happy-so-you-won't-have-any-regrets" idea.

The birdy tragedy breaks my heart. Nature can be cruel. Sometimes it makes you wonder "why"?

I love your quote about marriage! I remember you quoting that to me around the time I got married. That is exactly how I felt then and how I feel now. The greatest adventure of my life is being a wife and mother.

I am terribly sorry about the birds. I hate it when things like that happen!

I love those quotes. They remind me of a third one that does something like "you can't reach new horizons if you're unwilling to leave sight of the shore." That and "a kick in the butt is a step forward."

I'm a huge quote fan, and both of these quotes rock! Good snarky usage, too 😉

Sorry to hear about the mama bird and her nest…that sucks…

Isn't it great that we can draw inspiration from a great mans quote. I'd never heard of snarky before reading this post, thanks for the new word.

That's very sad about the bird eggs. Nature is rough.

I agree, the marriage/motherhood adventure eclipses all those other potential things that could have been.

Snarky? I get it. I'm snarky about 85% of the time. And I'm cool with that.

That photo… jumping off the cliff into the unknown? That's how I feel every morning when I hop (ok, crawl) out of bed….
