You always start to notice what your house looks like when you know company is coming over. You can probably sit in a mess of a place for days before you ever fully realize that your house looks like a wrecking ball came through & destroyed everything in its path. I feel like I have been living in such mess since lil dude started teething.
I had a friend call and ask if she could come up to my place and stay for a few days while she was house hunting. I told her to come on up. As soon as I hit the end button on my phone I started looking around my house wondering what needed to be done in order to prepare for her arrival. And that’s when I noticed the livingroom!
Did a freaking kitchen throw up on my livingroom floor?! There are 2 spatulas, 3 measuring cups, 1 set of measuring spoons, 1 wooden spoon, 2 pan lids, & 1 colander all just kickin’ it in my livingroom floor. Also lying there are toys and toys galore that I have spent tons & tons of money on, but when all else fails the kitchen utensils are waaaaay more exciting for my little man.
So… instead of going on a cleaning frenzy and worrying about my friend judging me for being a sloppy parent with a cluttered house, I sat down and banged some wooden spoons on a pan lid. You should have seen the smile on my little guy’s face. And when my friend got here (with her two month old in tow) she didn’t say a word or appear to be judging me. She’s just waiting for her turn….
