Todd, Lboy, Giorgio & I all went to go visit my parents this weekend. We had very hilarious Epic Fails that created an all the more lively weekend.
First off, Todd & I left Lboy with my parents and headed off for a fun filled day of hiking. I made sure that I grabbed the camera, a water bottle & my chapstick. We drove ALL the way out to the state park, found a parking spot, & then walked our booties to the start of the trail.
At which point, Todd wanted to take a picture of the two of us. We turn on the camera & we can’t take a picture. At which point I realize that I left the memory card in my laptop, which was at my parents’ house. And the battery went dead two seconds after that. EPIC FAIL!
The hike was amazing, we made it to the top of the hill mountain with no problems (insert the picture I planned on taking here.) By the time we got back down we were starving. We love this 50’s hamburger diner, so we decided to go eat all the calories we had just burned off & then some while hiking.
I gave Todd directions to go the “scenic route,” we sort of get lost (minor epic fail), we turn around & head to the restaurant. I get my favorite fried pickles, a chocolate milk shake, a classic cheesburger & a coke. I’m tellin’ ya, it was all the heart artery clogging, I will hate myself in a swimsuit this summer, yumminess I love about that place (I’m pretty sure at one point I moaned out loud when slurping my way through my triple chocolate malt milk shake.)
Our server brought us the check, I opened up my billfold & that’s when I discovered that I’d left our bills account debit card in our car, which my parents had because it had the car seat (we were rockin’ my mom’s awesome mini van. We’re cool like that.) I ask Todd for his debit card & he tells me he didn’t bring his wallet. So, $25.00 check & no way to pay. EPIC FAIL!
We called a million people, no one answered, Todd left me at the restaurant to go get the debit card from our car. As I’m sitting there, alone, my parents call me and tell me they took Lboy for a drive and they are an hour away, do I need anything? I start frantically laughing.
Todd came back, we just sat there hoping to hear from my brother & thirty minutes later he showed up with a debit card & we were able to pay!
Later that night, my awesome parents told Todd & me that we could go out after Lboy went to bed. So, we got all gussied up and headed out for drinks & then the movies. I give Todd directions & again, I give him the wrong directions. We end up at the wrong restaurant. People, I lived in my home city for 20 years. And I gave the wrong directions TWICE in one day. EPIC FAIL!
Since going to the original restaurant would make us late for our 9:45 movie (The King’s Speech), we headed to the theater. We bought our tickets and started the 30 minute wait. The 7:50 showing was still going, so we just waited outside the theater. And we wait. And we wait. And we wait. It rolls around to 9:45, then it becomes 9:50, then it hits 9:55, no movie. That’s when we decide to go talk to the manager & ask why the movie hasn’t started.
I tell Todd to let me check the ticket before we chew out talk to the manager & that’s when I see that our movie started at 10:50, not 9:45. The 9:45 showing was actually at a different theater across town & we got confused on the times. EPIC FAIL!!!
We changed our tickets & saw No Strings Attached with Natalie Portman & Ashton Kutcher, we laughed hysterically through the whole thing, sometimes at the movie, & sometimes at our epic fail weekend that still turned out amazing even though every.single.thing we planned didn’t exactly work out the way we thought it would.
And hey, I’m just glad that when we left my parents’ house to go home that we didn’t forget the dog or the kid & that I didn’t have to give directions, because who knows where in the heck we’d be right now if I had.

Here through Comment Hour. I couldn't help but smile while reading your post. Those moments/days can certainly be annoying, but they make for funny stories after the fact. And yes, I've certainly had days like that too:)

This happened to me…in France! In a totally fancy restaurant, and the hubby and I realized we had no cash (only American money and credit cards, neither of which would work).
It's the worst!

Sometimes the best things happen when they're not as we planned! I have a hard time letting go of "plans" but I'm always glad when I do.
That picture up top? Had me laughing out loud!

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed… actually some weeks it doesn't pay to get out of bed. 🙂

Oh, yes… definitely have had moments like those! Actually, had one today… set a haircut appointment for around the time of my children's naptime. The baby cried the whole time, I'm sure putting everyone in the salon on edge and feeling like they could not WAIT until "that" lady's haircut was finished. My son could hardly keep his eyes open on the way home (and just a few minutes from our house, I kept him up) but then would not nap once we got home! I just want to crawl back in bed and stay there for the rest of the day when I have these kinds of moments.
(Visiting you from the SITS hour!)
