Stop Gendercide: It’s a Girl

02/15/2013 by Kate P. 6 Comments

“Today, India & China eliminate more girls than born in America every year.”

I’m posting 2 videos here today, both of which you need to see. The first one is a trailer for an amazing documentary titled “It’s a Girl” & the other is the director discussing it at a TedX event.

I hope that you will take the time to watch these short videos & learn something new about what is going on in our world, especially against women. This is violence taking place against women, but it should be the concern of every man & woman across the globe.

I pray that we can change our culture of violence in this world AND that women across the globe will begin to view themselves with worth & dignity. That will only happen if we all begin to recognize the feminine genius in all of us.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you like what you see & will subscribe to my blog via Email and/or visit my Facebook page so you can see all the posts! Or look for me on Twitter so we can chat!

Thank you so much for coming back to visit! If you've never left a comment, leave me one! I'd love to chat! Be sure to subscribe to the via Email and check out the Facebook page or find me on Twitter so we can keep chatting!

Such a huge, important issue. My bookclub last month actually read the book “Unnatural Selection” by Hvistendahl. Fascinating look into this.

It is such an important issue! You are so right! This needs to be discussed & people do not need to shy away from it! My friend & I are going to try to host a few of the screenings in our home of the documentary. This needs to be talked about more so it will stop!

I’m going to check out your book, thanks for sending it my way!

Hi Evan! I’m beyond honored that you took the time to stop by here.

I first learned of the documentary when there was a screening in the Little Rock, Arkansas area back in November. Since then, I have been watching everything I can get my hands on to learn more about the situation.

A friend & I plan on working together to get some screenings in our part of the state. We actually spoke about it Friday. I can’t wait to get it started!

Again, thank you for your work on this & for sharing it with the world!

I made this film with the hope that individuals like you, Kate, who have a circle of influence, will join together with others to spread the word and mobilize, little by little, a movement. This film will only make a difference in our world because of you and others like you. So thank you for helping to get this important issue out there!

Great post Kate! Also, wanted to share Half The Sky, it’s a book as well as a documentary on PBS, and Netflix [http://www.halftheskymovement.org/]. Just finished the first part of it, and it’s a powerful realization that the gender equality issues around the world need to be brought out into the open. Here in the USA we are fighting for equal pay, whereas some places women and girls are fighting just to be heard, believed, and not be put to shame for their gender.

    Thanks for posting.
