This is the second of five posts over the next ten days as part of Momalom’s Five for Ten. Each participant writes about the same topic everyday–today’s topic is about what makes me happy! I thought that this would be a fun exercise to get to know other bloggers! If you want, you can go visit all the other participants. I hope you enjoy! I look forward to stopping by each of your blogs & getting to know you as well over the next 10 days!
Blogging. I love how it allows me to have my own space. It also gives me an opportunity to branch out into a new world without having to leave my house. As a mom/parent, it’s difficult to always get to go somewhere when you want to & blogging lets me “leave” & have some time to myself–even for five minutes sometimes.
Lboy laughing. Enough said! We all know what it’s like to hear our child laugh, especially those deep laugh out loud laughs!
Todd. Having my best friend live with me is pretty awesome! Even on the hard days, he still makes me happy.
Whatever book I’m reading at the moment. Right now I don’t have one (well sleep training books & “What to Expect the Toddler Years” don’t really count) but I love, love, love to read!
What is not so happy right now–listening to my baby cry as we try to sleep train! It’s breaking my heart a little bit at a time–that courage I talked about yesterday is not staying with me tonight.

It says comments are down, but I'll try anyway! I love when I hear my son laugh. It's the greatest thing in the world. "ve always thought kids laughing is the best sound ever!

great post! I totally can relate to the bed thing. We were just in Maui for a week and the bed was HORRIBLE! There is nothing like sleeping in your OWN bed!

Candles make me happy. I have fancy, decorative ones that I never light and then ones that I burn all out within weeks because they make the entire house smell like cupcakes or something else delicious & edible. I am obsessed with all kinds of candles.
Is the sleep training thing kind of like the cry it out self-soothing thing? When i worked in a nursery, i would do this with some of the infants to try and get them to sleep. I would let them cry for about ten minutes or so at a time and then come coddle them, set them back down, etc. Their crying never bothered me. It did not make my heart ache, or make me feel bad or anything… but that's because it was not MY child, lol….So i wonder if it will be different when Emery comes…I'm sure it will

all great things. I think I would just compeltely copy your list. lovely blog.

oh kate, i'm sorry sleep training is so rough. i wouldn't handle it well either but he'll be the better for it. i know it's tough to listen to him cry right now but it won't last long!
our mattress is one of our faves too – bought a king size that does all kind of wacky things (goes up and down and you can control the pressure) as a wedding gift to each other. best investment ever!
and one of my other favorites: warm epsom salt baths. they make me feel like new!

I could have written the same thing about blogging. I sometimes feel silly for it, but sometimes this computer is my form of friendly adult interaction. Without it I'd probably go crazy-er.
Mungee's Ma says
I love to hear Mungee's deep belly laughs when she's playing with her Daddy.
And peanut M&Ms.
Kate@Mommy Monologues says
Oh peanut m&m's are the best! I go through these phases where they are all I crave–thanks for stopping by! And for commenting!..Baby laughter is the best!
Kate@Mommy Monologues says
The only time I feel silly for it is when I start sentences like, "I was reading this blog…" and who ever I'm talking to has no interest in blogging so they have no clue what I'm talking about (I used to be one of those people!)…Thanks for stopping by!

He's only crying for like 30 minutes (which sounds long, but I thought that it would be much longer) & I'm sad when he cries. Then when he falls asleep it's momentary relief & then grief! lol I hate not having him there–my baby is getting too big! But he's so much happier when he wakes up in the morning-so I guess it's worth it!
I tried talking Todd into a King size mattress, he said he didn't want one. Now it's all he talks about–I always say, "I told you so!"
I took a soaking bath after I put Lboy to sleep last night–it was amazing!
Kate@Mommy Monologues says
Thank you Nicole! And thank you for stopping by!

Candles are so much fun!…everything changes when you have kiddos! From the smallest to the biggest things–but it's all worth it!

Thank you Jen! And thanks for stopping by!

Hi, Useful blog. But when i went half way through, i reesalid the incident mentioned would have been taken place in US and not in India. The 2 guys fought incident’ i thought in our place (India) they will call and make them to stand in front of HM office for atleast 1 hour as punishment. After reading the whole, i confirmed, as it was written by padma’ who is here in US.Arthi

Ditto on the mattress. I remember how hard our mattress was in China, it felt like we were sleeping on the floor hahaha.
Love journal too, I need to get back to them, they've been collecting dust for far too long.

I love the one about Dad and baby playing. I found myself smiling as my husband danced with my daughter as Sleeping Beauty was playing in the background. Such a Daddy and daughter moment!
I love those belly laughs too!

Children's laughter is the best thing in the world!!

Nodding head emphatically over here about the mattress. When my husband and I were first together and due to have a baby, we bought a mattress. And It Was Horrible. For years we slept on that thing. By the end we were each holding on to our respective sides for dear life. For, if we let go, we'd roll into the middle. But of course, eventually we'd fall asleep and don't you know that every night we wound up nose to nose on top of one another in a ditch. Not my cup of tea when I'm trying to maximize those fear hours of sleep with an infant.
And then we grew up. Got a bit of money. And bought one beauty of a mattress. To this day I'll tell any new couple…go big (king size) and go quality, right from the get go.

I can't wait to get a king! If I could get a king mattress exactly like the one I have now, then I'd be in heaven! Except when I was preggo I hated the mattress I have now, must have been the big belly weighing me down! I'm in love with it again though! Thanks for coming by! And thanks for the awesome 5 for 10!
Kate@Mommy Monologues says
That is so sweet!!!

There's just something about your own bed–but going to China would be very cool!

Stopping by from SITS…
I love watching how different daddy's play. I remember being a new mom and being so worried how rough he was and now I see how much both my kids enjoy that hands on play with him!
And I love a clean house too, i just don't always love being the one to do it!
