So, because I love Todd I decided to participate in the GameStop Giveaway that was mentioned in the SITS post yesterday. Todd is a HUGE gaming freak person so I’m going to try and win some stuff. Otherwise, if I don’t win, he’s gettin’ a bunch of socks. 🙂
TodaysMama (link to: http://bit.ly/tmwishlist) and GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.
1. What is your holiday wish for your family?
I want us to be happy. I don’t want us to be stressed out with all the driving we are going to do. And I want us to enjoy our time together, not focusing on presents but on each other.
2. What is your Christmas morning/ Hanukkah Nightly Tradition?
We always woke up waaaay too early and started with stockings. Then after we opened stockings we lit all the candles on the Advent Wreath then my dad would read to us from one of the Gospels, and then we would sing two Christmas songs. My parents always wanted to make sure that we didn’t forget that we were celebrating something so much more important than presents under a tree.
After we got done singing, then we would start to open presents. But my mom never liked it when we would just tear into the presents and she wouldn’t get to see us open anything. I mean seriously, the woman spent MONTHS getting Christmas ready for us, she should get to see us open all her hard work. So, one year she started us opening a present in order of age, youngest to oldest. That way we all got to enjoy what our family was opening. It is actually very cool to see the things that made all my brothers and sisters happy and my parents too (it’s also how I learned that Santa wasn’t real–another story for another time.)
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?
A night at a hotel, just me, with a good book and no alarm clock. 🙂
4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?
Todd & I have started our own tradition of doing the Advent Wreath every Sunday night like my parents did with us when we were little. We light the candles, say a prayer, read a passage from one of the Gospels leading up to the birth of Jesus, and then we sing a Christmas song. It’s a nice way to spend time together as a family, remind us what the holidays are for without spending a dime.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up?
Well, all us kids always played Super Mario. But, board games were pretty big too, especially Monopoly. I was great at cheating at that game so that I would always win. 🙂 Typical big sister I know.
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?
The Advent Wreath would be the biggest. But, I think that as Lboy starts to get bigger and we start to have more children then more of the traditions that Todd did with his mom and traditions I did with my family will start to pop up.
7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?
I would buy tickets to celebrate Mass in Vatican City. I would eat good Italian food and spend time with the fam seeing the sites of Italy. EXCEPT, I probably wouldn’t buy any presents, hello people I just paid for you to go to Italy!
8. Check out GameStop (link to: http://bit.ly/gamestop10) and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?
I know that Todd would LOVE the Kinect Bundle, controllers for the Wii (it’s pretty useless without those :), and I know that there is some video game that he wants but I have no idea which one.
I hope that y’all have a very Happy Christmas Season!

Ooh…love the idea of a night in a hotel…alone. Make it one with a big down comforter and good room service, of course. Oh, and a yummy big robe, and lots and lots of towels. And a separate shower from the jetted tub. And a nice little welcome basket on the desk, with chocolates and fruit and crackers and bottled water…
Hmmm…I should stop here. It's the same reason I automatically delete all the travel deal emails I get (but I haven't gone so far as to remove myself from the email distribution)…no reason to torture myself with impure thoughts! HA!
