We all have movies that we have “moods” for….right? I’m not the only one am I?
I love movies. Old movies. New movies. Unknown movies. Famous movies. I love them. When I was in film lecture we watched 16 movies. There were only 2 I hadn’t seen. Every time the professor asked a question about a bit of movie trivia, I was the geek in class who shouted the answer (I know, I’m THAT student–I’m also a front row sitter which drives Todd nuts.)
When I’m sick, I want to curl up in bed and watch “Sense & Sensibility” with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, & Hugh Grant. It’s such a happy movie, with a great ending, and it can lift your spirits even when you feel like death has run you over.

When I’m feeling nostalgic or missing someone, I want to watch the movie, “Big Fish” with Ewan McGregor. I love this movie. The first time I watched it I balled my eyes out. I was a mess. The main character reminds me of my father and both grandfathers all rolled into one person. I rarely put this movie in because I just end up crying, a LOT. Not because it’s a sad movie, just it’s one of those movies that speaks to the very pit of your soul, at least to mine.

When I’m feeling Christmasy, I want to watch the movie “While You Were Sleeping” with Sandra Bullock. I don’t think I have to explain this, it’s just a happy Christmas movie. And it makes me fall in love with Sandra Bullock’s character, Lucy, every.single.time.

When I’m in fun, girly mood, I want to watch “Sex & the City.” I love that movie, but I’m not sure if I love the girls or the clothes more…quite honestly I think it’s the allure of gorgeous clothes & the desire to go to NYC more than it is Carrie, Sam, Charlotte, or Miranda.

When I’m in an “insomnia, why can’t I friggin’ fall asleep mood,” I turn on “The Quiet Man.” I bet more than half of you haven’t heard of this movie (and if you have Oh my gosh! Can we be friends?!) It’s got John Wayne & Maureen O’Hara & was directed by John Ford. I love this movie & have watched it 100 million times. When I had my wisdom teeth taken out I fell asleep to this movie every night, because it’s just, well, quiet. It just makes my soul feel rested saying the name.
When I’m in an “I’m going to annoy the crap out of you and recite every line throughout the movie” mood (I hate it when people do that, but with this one I just can’t help myself) I watch, “The Princess Bride.” And after I watch that movie, I read the book. I think I love the book more. In fact, I have had to tape the book back together about a 100 times.

Lately, I’ve just been in a movie mood. So I’ve been playing movies in the background while Lboy & I hang out in the house. It’s not like I’m really getting to sit down & watch them, but I enjoy hearing them play all the same.
And let’s not get me started on songs. That list could go on FOREVER!
What movies do you love? Have any that you watch when you’re in a mood?

Every Friday I have a Friday “Featurette” where a new person writes at my blog (you don’t have to be a blogger or a regular reader.) All I ask is that the person google follow here! I am looking for new writers! Email me at mymommymonologues@gmail.com if you might be ineterested! You can write about any topic you want OR we can do question & answer post–it’s your choice! It is a GREAT way for us to meet new bloggers or learn a little bit more about a person we already love!

Great movie choices! I know that for me the Princess Bride will never get old, and I totally agree with you on the allure of the movie Sex and the City. I feel the same way, I would love to wear all of those fancy clothes and shoes!

So many good quotes! Lately, my favorite has been "there's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours."

Totally not a movie buff…my brothers can recite every line to every movie they've seen, so I sort of don't need to watch any movie haha!

My husband and I are complete movie buffs – we try to watch 1 movie every week at least (doesn't matter if they're old or new). This week we've completely tried to relax and watched a total of 5 movies, hence I haven't been able to write much on my blog:
The Road – pretty depressing but the end just touched my heart!
LOTR: The Two Towers – the series is a favorite!
The Losers – pleasantly surprised that we both liked it
Robin Hood – the one with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, it was good 🙂
Resident Evil: Degeneration – an animation that goes between the first and second movies (I think)
BUT, let me just say in closing that Sense and Sensibility, Big Fish (which we watched again last week!), While You Were Sleeping and Princess Bride are some of my absolute favorites! Maybe we can be friends? Even if I don't know what The Quiet Man is? LOL.

Love Actually puts me in a feel good mood. I don't know what it is about that movie that makes me all filled with love inside. I even walked down the aisle to one of the songs in the movie!

I love old classic movies myself. Don't get to watch as many as I'd like due to life's busy schedule. I grew up watching John Wayne movies -my mom loved them! The Quiet Man is one of my favorites but I love all the ones with Maureen O'Hara.
Princess Bride is another favorite plus the 80's classics with the Brat Pack or Tom Cruise.
I'm slowly introducing my son to the Disney classic originals (live action and cartoon).

I love the Quiet Man! My mom is such a movie nut an loves John Wayne. In fact when I was in the theirs grade we had to write who our favorite actor, actress and singer/band were and I was alone with Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant and the Beatles! Another of my old favorite movies is Father Goose with Cary Grant and Leslie Caron.
I love to put in movies while I clean the house or fold clothes or cook. Just listening to some of my favorites while I work can make me so happy! And to fess up to the nerd I am I LOVE to clean when ABC Family has a Harry Potter weekend.

Sex and the City is the only one, which is also my interest. The others? It`s a shame, but i even didn`t hear about those, untill now.
My film list would be more up to date, I`m a modern child, this way.
